If West Ham had a new Stadium where best cited
|
Be fantastic to have a new home we could call OUR own. One where it felt like a family could come together in OUR stadium fit for football. Geared up to provide an atmosphere, not just a big area where 50k people anywhere would make some noise.
To put it kindly, with the demograhic changes our supporters over time have moved away from Upton Park into Essex, Kent etc.
Where would you choose to have a new stadium built.

We won't be getting a new stadium so this thread is a waste of time.

Lakeside.
Transport links. Next to a shopping centre. Loads of car parking and easily accessible via A13 and M25.
Whats not to like??

True Johnson not in the short term. But maybe something longer term, its funny how things work out. As we don't own the LS raises uncertainty to the future and what may come along. I would like to see us OWN a ground as an asset, feels very exposed living in a rented state. We should be saving a large portion of the Sky money each year to fall back on.

ornchurch hammer 11:44 Mon Mar 13 Better already. Fucking LS is further into London, further away from the fans.

The best people can hope for is we end up buying the Hotpoint, however even that is a long shot.

As much as I wanted to stay at the Boleyn and as much as I dislike the athletics bowl, I have accepted that it is our home ground now and it is up to us fans to make it feel like a home ground, because we will be there for a very long time.

Aardvark 12:11 Mon Mar 13 Its not OURS though is it, we just play the "home" games there. It feels like a temporary stadium, like we are having a proper one built while we play here. To think this is what we have been left with while the other London clubs have or will get stadiums fit for football. Only West Ham.

If we were delivered a semblance of a 'home ground' in the first place to work with it wouldn't have to fall on us to have to make it a 'home ground'. The board must love the 'get used to it' and 'move on, it is what it is' mob.

Beckton would have been a very good option at one point.

The best place for the stadium is exactly where it is - in the lower Lea Valley
In a purpose-built football stadium rather than white elephant we're stuck with...
When an Arab, Chinaman or Yank buys the club they can build us a new ground and a 30,000 capacity athletics stadium...Which should have been built on the old warm up track

No investor will pay the asking price for the hotpoint plus the club; I would guess that price the club around the £750m mark, similar to what the Glazer's paid for Man U.

Stratford.
Can we have a moan up about season tickets not going up next season now?

Just by Thorpe Park.
If the match has gone well, we can all go and ride rollecoasters afterwards.
If it goes badly, we can chuck outselves in the lake?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. When London was granted the 2012 Olympics in 2005 most of the industrial area of Stratford was flattened. You would have thought someone from West Ham or Newham Council could have spotted the opportunity or the foresight for a purpose built 50k stadium to be built there. Typical West Ham though we do everything on the cheap and rely on hand outs.
The current site of the London Stadium is ideal great transport links and plenty of places to eat and drink but, it ain't Upton Park/Boleyn and I still miss it.
